Description: The ENT Department of the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) joined the world to celebrate WHD 2023. The two-day event involved the creation of awareness on ear and hearing care, free ear screening for preterm babies and adults, and the organization of a seminar on the causes and management of hearing loss.
Day One (2nd March 2023)
Staff from the department educated clients on the theme using the WHD information guidelines. Posters, video screen displays, and social media pages were used to increase awareness.
Day Two (3rd March 2023)
The UGMC launched the WHD themed ‘Ear and Hearing Care for All’. Resource persons emphasized the importance of integrating ear and hearing care into primary health care delivery. Stakeholders present included ENT nurses, Management, and staff of UGMC, media, mothers of preterm babies etc. Participants deliberated on highlights from the presentations and shared their perspectives that focused on the theme.
