Formal UN recognition would transform World Hearing Day into an “International Day,” catalyzing greater global commitment to hearing health. This designation would amplify public engagement, mobilize resources, and inspire investment in interventions and policies prioritizing hearing health — supporting education campaigns, research, early intervention programs, and services for those with hearing loss. It would also encourage countries to integrate ear and hearing care into national health agendas.
