Title: Free School and Community Ear Screening

Description:

The FKND Foundation recently hosted a “Free School and Community Ear Screening” event, focused on ear health and hearing assessments. The event attracted 1,185 attendees, including 986 students, 95 teachers, and 104 community members from four government basic schools in Akropong and Atwima Koforidua, Ghana. The participants consisted of 419 males and 766 females. Several media outlets, such as the Ghanaian Times newspaper, Hello FM, Peace FM, and United Television (UTV), provided coverage for the event. The screening results showed that 1,050 individuals, accounting for roughly 88.61% of participants, exhibited normal hearing, whereas 135 (11.40%) were found to have some degree of hearing loss. The event was not only a screening platform but also a tool for raising awareness and educating the community about ear health.
