Region: Nepal
Title: Municipality-Based, People-Centered Ear and Hearing Care
Description: Over the course of two days, our team trained a total of 40 health professionals in Nepal on various hearing-related topics. On the first day, nine community medicine assistants learned how to conduct hearing loss screenings using the free hearWHO app. On the second day, 31 female community health volunteers received orientation on a range of topics. These included child hearing and speech developmental milestones, common symptoms of ear ailments and hearing loss, procedures for infant hearing screening at immunization centers, and best practices for ear and hearing care. Training materials, including those from the Nepal government and World Hearing Day, translated into Nepali, were used for these interactive sessions.
