Title: World Hearing Day

Description:

In celebration of World Hearing Day 2023, Dr. S.R. Chandrasekhar Institute of Speech and Hearing (SRCISH) of Bengaluru, India organized educational programs for primaryhealth care professionals on the early identification and intervention of hearing loss. A special lecture focusing on universal ear and hearing care was given at Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru on March 3, 2023, where a demonstration of a mannequin named ‘Karna’ was showcased. Developed by the institute, ‘Karna’ mimics ‘Jouline’ from Dangerous Decibels and is used to measure the music levels in one’s ear from personal devices. The event was a success, sparking numerous questions from students about ear health and music-induced hearing loss. Additionally, 17 hearing aids, both behind-the-ear and receiver-in-canal types, were generously donated by Sonova Hearing India Pvt Ltd and were distributed. Educational WHO materials were also utilized during the day’s activities.
