 Organization: All Ears Cambodia

 Region: Cambodia

Title: The 60s Up Project

Description:

The 60s Up Project, initiated by the NGO, All Ears Cambodia, employed an innovative, community-centric approach to advocate for better hearing health among the elderly, a group often affected age-related hearing loss. Within Khmer society, elders are highly respected and often trusted for guidance. Thus, by partnering with monks at local Buddhist temples, which serve as community hubs and provide social support for vulnerable individuals, the project was highly successful. The initiative raised awareness about age-related hearing loss, emphasizing the need for regular hearing tests, and stressed the significance of early intervention. It also provided necessary hearing aids to those in need, underlining the importance of hearing health in the ageing process.
