Description: A symposium focusing on hearing and ear care was a joint initiative between the St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College’s ENT Department and the Christian Blind Mission (CBM). The event began with an overview of the hearing and ear care services at the hospital. The second session, led by another specialist, tackled the issue of accessing these services. Additionally, this event marked the launch of the first national population-based hearing survey in Ethiopia, an initiative aimed at filling the information gap about the prevalence and causes of hearing loss in the country. Participants from different hospitals, regional health bureaus, national disability associations, and schools for the deaf attended. Lastly, the event saw the preparation of related infographics in the local language and the installation of four billboards. The event received extensive publicity, with coverage from various television channels and radio stations.
