Title: World Hearing Day Free Hearing Screenings for Faculty, Staff & Community Members

Description:

On World Hearing Day, Doctor of Audiology (AuD) graduate students from Purdue University’s Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) provided free hearing screenings to the local community. This initiative, conceived by a Clinical Assistant Professor, was a way to apply the lessons from the SLHS 570 Hearing Conservation course. The students also launched a social media campaign featuring Purdue Pete, the university mascot, aiming to raise awareness about the risks of hearing loss due to high sound levels at sports events. This campaign was highlighted in an article and gained substantial attention online. In support of this cause, Final Fit Safety generously donated 300 pairs of their BioSoft Plant-Based earplugs for distribution during the event.
