Description: The Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Programme and the Malawi National Association for the Deaf (MANAD) organized a musical event at Chichiri Secondary School in Blantyre, Malawi, to promote hearing health awareness. The event, which also served as a community awareness and outreach session, was held in observance of World Hearing Day. The organizers aimed to use the event to increase awareness about their school screening and primary care hearing issues among children and adults. They also aimed to familiarize potential participants with their study team, which plans to provide bone conduction devices in collaboration with Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital’s clinical officers and audiologists. Notable features of the event included a live performance of a popular song about deaf awareness and the presence of children and teachers from local schools for the deaf. Sign language interpreters were available throughout the event.
