Title: Ear and Hearing Care for All
Description: In 2023, a significant initiative was undertaken by a specialized deafness treatment unit at a renowned hospital, in collaboration with a notable association. This initiative was focused on supporting the deaf community by providing free expert consultations and hearing screenings, with the ultimate goal of raising awareness about ear and hearing health. The procedure started with an initial interview, followed by examinations conducted by trained experts and audiometrists. Participants were then provided with diagnostic results, valuable health information, and resources that included informational vouchers, publications, and transparent masks. A considerable number of individuals, ranging from the young to adults, took part in this initiative. The screening results showed that while 45% had normal hearing, a significant 45% suffered from medium to severe deafness, and 10% experienced profound deafness. Those with substantial hearing issues were guided towards further investigation and suitable treatment.
