On the morning of March 3, 2023, during World Ear Care Day, the Otolaryngology medical team of Shenzhen Children’s Hospital received free consultation from 103 parents and children, mainly including hearing screening, deafness gene testing, hearing rehabilitation, hearing aid fitting, cochlear implantation, neonatal ear deformity, etc., Dr. Li Lan and Dr. Wu Zebin were in charge of examination and consultation. The staff distributed a total of 210 knowledge manuals about ear protection, and held a quiz on ear knowledge. A total of 85 parents and children participated in the activity and received exquisite small gifts

at 3 March 2023, we were holding an event about ENT free consultation and ENT education leaflet distribution. this event attended by 35 people. this event performed a free ENT colsultation.There are a lot of question about hearing problems and asking about solution that can be give.The person in charge of the activity dr. at 3 March 2023, Health Promotion about Ear Health and earplug free give in RS Paru dr. Ario Wirawan Salatiga was held. this event attended by 56 people. this event consis of socialitation about ear/hearing health and other ENT problem and also free give of earplug for patients and patients handler. Writing on the Importance of Maintaining Ear Health (Reflections on World Hearing Day 2023).
Cooperation with Serambi Indonesia Newspaper and Komda PGPKT Aceh Commitee. Printed newspapers and e-newspapers published on March 4, 2023 are expected to be read by readers, especially in the Aceh Province area, to socialize how important it is to maintain healthy ears and hearing.

at 3 March 2023, Mini Talkshow and Free examination in SD Al Azhar 22 Salatiga was held. This activity was consist of socialitation , hearing examination and QnA session. this event attended by 123 student of primary school of SD Al Azhar 22 Salatiga. Between waiting and examining there is minigames that were held. This activity is in collaboration with Perhati- BKL North Central Java. The person in charge of the activity are dr. One day free clinic was organized in a Rural Healthcare Center of village Muhammad Pura, district Nankana Sahib. Hundreds of people (including children, adults and adolescents) were provided with free ear examinations, hearing screenings, ENT consultations and audiological evaluations (PTA, ABR, Distraction tests). Awareness talks on New-born hearing screenings, ear and hearing care, hearing aid usage and safe listening were given to the general public. An Intra clinical activity including Doctors/ Audiologists and healthcare workers was arranged day before the camp to promote the hearing healthcare standards. WHO materials were used throughout the event and awareness messages were disseminated through different social media platforms.

at 3 March 2023, Healthy Speaking with Wonosobo People’s about Ear Health
was perfomed by Setjonegoro FM Radio from KRT.Setjonegoro General Hospital. This activity was performed on air and there are a lot of question about what is WHD and about the problems and solution for hearing problems. This activity is in collaboration with Perhati- BKL North Central Java. The person in charge of the activity is dr. Rohmatullah Subekti, Sp. T.H.T.B.K.L.

Counseling, ear cleaning and education for kids in the school age collaborated with RS Elisabeth Semarang was held on March 3, 2023. This activity was attended by 50 students. The title of Education is “ Ear and Hearing Health”and it was interactively performed. This activity is in collaboration with Perhati- BKL North Central Java . this activity is in the form of education to the community in the village community of Cibeber Cimahi west Java Indonesia. will be held on March 3, 2023. After the education, cerumen will be examined and cleaned. The target number of attendees is 100 people.

activities in hearing screening for workers exposed to noise at the PT Trisula Textile Cimahi west Java Indonesia textile factory. The activity was carried out on March 17, 2023. The activities carried out were in the form of education followed by tekinga examination and cerumen cleaning then carried out hearing screening with audiometry. the number of participants was 70 people

Counseling, ear cleaning and education for the elderly at the Bethany Nursing Home was held on March 3, 2023. This activity was attended by 30 elderly people at the nursing home. From the results of these activities, many of these elderly people experience hearing loss. This activity is in collaboration with Perhati- BKL North Central Java . on March 3, 2023, Komda PGPKT Central Java Province joining with KRMT Wongsonegoro Regional Hospital, We held ear cleaning activity of Semarang State Special School Students, the number of participants was 65 people and the students were very cooperative during the examination. This activity is in collaboration with Perhati- BKL North Central Java.

KAPCDAM carried out Ear and Hearing care awareness and engagement meetings in Salaama and Luwafu Parishes for three consecutive days reaching out to over 7,600 people;

Kosovo Bar Owners’ Association, Kosovo Local Council I, and local journalist sensitized on the recommended levels of noise and made an action plan to fight excessive noise emissions.

VHTs were sensitized in Ear and hearing Care, and how to give routine related information to communities.

On the main celebration day, a banner and placards were raised, and children with disabilities, their parents, KAPCDAM staff, Board representatives, and community members matched for three kilometers playing brass instruments while sensitizing community members –
The parents and the young persons with disabilities later submitted a humble petition to the Maria Thereza Maternity Clinic (Kosovo Zone, Makindye Division, KAMPALA, Uganda) requesting the establishment of ear and hearing care services in the Clinic.

The activity entitled education, ear examination and hearing screening was carried out on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at the Lotus Posyandu, Jl Sukaria 09 Makassar, South Sulawesi at 09.00 am. This activity is in collaboration with a hearing aid company. One form of support for the hearing aid company is by borrowing an otoacoustic emission device;considering the limited availability of these tools in the city of Makassar. This activity lasted for about 2 hours 30 minutes. the participants in this activity were infants and toddlers who were carrying out routine weighing and immunization activities. parents are very enthusiastic about doing ear examinations on their children.

This event is entitled sharing session about world hearing day” as a service for ear and hearing health on the topic of hearing loss; in collaboration with the Muslim University of Indonesia and is broadcast live on UMI Medical Podcast radio on frequency 108.0 FM and broadcast live on YouTube. the event which was held on Wednesday, 08 March 2023 at 09.00 am lasted for 1 hour. Many questions from pod cast and YouTube streaming participants regarding hearing loss.

in commemoration of the world hearing day 3 march 2023 the Haji Hospital in collaboration with PERHATI-KL Ssulselbar, Maluku, Papua held outreach at the Haji Hospital. This activity was held in the waiting room of the polyclinic. activities include ear examination and hearing screening. We use ear endoscopes to make it easier to explain to visitors about the condition of the ear being examined. Apart from that, we also distributed leaflets to visitors to make it easier for us to carry out counseling and outreach regarding the existence of World Hearing Day which is commemorated every March 3rd. Our activities include counseling, question and answer and hearing examination and screening.

The Center of Hearing and Speech MEDINCUS in Poland put emphasis on increasing ear and hearing problems and helped people to identify them and get proper aid. We organized large-scale free hearing screening in 8 mainly cities in Poland (Toruń, Konin, Częstochowa, Rzeszów, Opole, Kraków, Szczecin, Radom). Our free hearing tests were made on the World Hearing Day, but also during the whole month (March) in 4 cities. That enabled hundreds of people to check their hearing.
A lot of participants of our action could have had also free appointment with audiophonologist, appointment with hearing aid technician and auditory processing disorders tests (for children).
We arranged interviews with our otolaryngologists and prepared press release, which were publicized in about 50 local and nation-wide media (press, radio, TV, websites). We also set the article about WHD and our actions on our website, SoM channels and we used WHO materials.

2. WHD : Hearing Impairment and Deafness if not prevented will become big problem in 2050, one in 10 of the world’s population will be deaf. 5 causal diseases declared by WHO must be prevented through integration with PHC
3. Ear Stroke: Lately, there has been public attention regarding ear strokes, whether they really exist. That’s a layman’s term, the medical term is sudden deafness, an ENT emergency, must be taken seriously so that it is not permanent. Cause by blockage of cochlea’s blood vessels due to virus, hypertension, diabetes. Also discusses conduction-type hearing loss due to colds.

Hard of Hearing Group Philippines joined the World Hearing Day 2023 occasion with the theme “Ear and Hearing Care for All! Let’s Make it a reality!” sponsored by TELUS International Philippines, with free hearing screening conducted by our hearing center partner, Audibly Hearing Aid Center, and real-time captioning by TERPCAP, expression of support from the National Council on Disability Affairs, the lead coordinating agency of the Philippine government.

Policymakers attended the event from government and private sector, health care providers, and the members and leaders of the local Deaf, deaf, and hard of hearing communities. In addition, Mr. Ariel Pelaez, owner of Audibly Hearing Aid Center, imparted his knowledge and expertise on hearing care and hearing loss prevention to the audience.

Official WHO posters were also shared on our Facebook page and group, calling the attention of social media netizens to be aware of the event and its key messages.

To create awareness about hearing loss and its preventive measures, Safe listening habits the following public education activities were carried out over a span of a week:

A’s seeb polyclinic under MOH in Muscat, Oman carried out ‘World Hearing Day Awareness program’ on March 7 th 2023. The event conducted at the main entrance hall of the Polyclinic. The event targeted the audience comprising of policy makers, adolescents, adults, children and Health care workers promoting ear care and management. The event focused on awareness raising, education and training program for primary health care professionals by WHO posters,flyers, brochures and presentation videos related to prevention, ear care and intervention by ENT specialists and Audiologist.More than 100 people were in attendance. Hearing test conducted on people who really in need based on’ Hearing Health Questionnaire ‘survey. The event Collaberated with the participation of two hearing aid centres – Super Quality and Al Amal and they showcased various types of hearing aids, ear plugs etc. Otoscopic examination and counselling was done through out the event by Otologists and Audiologist.

The event was well organised by our team members at the various centers of ALPS HEARING RESEARCH FORUM, where besides Hearing Evaluation, FREE Distribution of hearing aids, and patient information Open House was also conducted. Local People, Village Panchayats and the Hearing Health Professionals were made aware of the event through Telephone Calls, Mailers, and also through Social Media and were requested to come or send patients for hearing screening. We had a one-day deaf awareness event at the University of Toronto Schools for the students and the staff.

1. Non-musical chairs (demonstrates the endless possibilities of adapting activities to be inclusive and include those who are deaf)

2. Empathy activity (One of the deaf teens helped to run this station – involved simulating conversation with someone who is hard of hearing and figuring out the message they are trying to convey)

3. Activity based on relying on other senses (students closed their eyes and had to guess conversations – demonstrated the power of using other senses)

– Around 100-150 students attended and enjoyed free popcorn and donuts

– Promotional posters posted around the school and sent emails to students and staff

Komda PGPKT Toraja Utara with Lempo Public Health Center (Puskesmas Lempo), carry out actifity to Periodic Examination of Formal Workers in Lempo District, during February -March 2023. We are screening of hearing health and earwax for nearly 100 formal employees (staff of The Village Head’s Office, Teachers of all Elementary and Junior High School, Medic and Paramedic of the Lempo Public Health Center and staff of PT Toarco Jaya (export coffee company).
There were 6 employee with cerumen, 1 employee with tinnitus and 2 employee with hearing loss.

The event targeted the audience comprising of policy makers, adolescents, adults, children and Health care workers promoting ear care and management.The event focused on awareness raising, education and training program for primary care health workers.The awareness campaign included the sharing of information to the public and primary health care professionals by WHO posters, flyers, brochures and presentation videos related to ear care and intervention by ENT specialists and Audiologist.More than 100 people were in attendance. The National Direction of CEN-CINAI carried out activities to promote hearing health under the slogan: Ear and hearing care for all! Let’s make it possible. The activities were planned and developed by personnel from the central, regional and local levels, CEN-CINAI establishments and community members of the CEN-CINAI Committees. These activities were carried out with the maternal and child population served in CEN-CINAI, in intramural and extramural modalities throughout the country.
Within the activities for the promotion of hearing health, the installation of informative spaces such as murals, blackboards, development of activities directed with play materials, the delivery of informative materials such as flyers, leaflets and the development of educational activities with small groups of families, publications in social networks, among others, stand out.
The activities related to the promotion of hearing health were motivating for the mother and child population, thus stimulating self-care of hearing health and its importance.

This outreach activity consisted on a round table focused in the importance of developing and promoting knowledge of spanish sign language, creating new words that facilitate and improve communication between hearing-impaired people and health professionals, inclusion, education and scientific culture in people with severe hearing loss. ENT doctors, hearing loss researchers, academia members, sign language users and patient association representatives participated in this interesting round table, which was followed by a lively discussion between panelists and assistants.
The event was accessible for people with hearing loss, as it had simultaneous translation into sign language and subtitles.

The in-person Symposium entitled “Can we prevent hearing decline?” took place in the Ateneo de Madrid, an artistic, scientific and literary building on March 27th. Organized by Luis Lassaletta and Carmen Ruiz, from the Department of Otolaryngology, La Paz University Hospital and the CIBERER group, it gathered experts on different fields of hearing loss. A first part with short talks about (1) The usefulness of animal models in hearing research by Silvia Murillo and Isabel Varela-Nieto, (2) An update on auditory implants in 2023 by Isabel Sánchez Cuadrado, and New ways of communication following the COVID-19 pandemic by Carmen Ruiz (3) was followed by a lively discussion between panelists and assistants.The second part included testimonies from three cochlear implant users with different hearing outcomes who shared their daily experiences with the assistants. Some implant models were distributed in the room to show the assistants how the newest technology looks like.

The Primary Ear and Hearing Care Training Manual Launch Event in Georgia was organized by the Aures Foundation with the participation of the Ministry of Health, professionals, parents, and SCO’s. Presentations were made by Ariane LaPlante-Levesque of the WHO ER and guest expert George Tavartkiladze and by other participants. To the end of launch, participant discussed how to strength EHC at primary level and training non-specialist workforce and improve quality of rehabilitation services. Live event in the largest shopping center in Tbilisi with the distribution of WHO campaign materials and promotion HearWHO application. Workshops on safe listening for young people at universities, schools, and youth centers. Media coverage – the three largest broadcasts and radio stations in Georgia.

For this year’s World Hearing Day, Healthy Macau Association invited Hong Kong rock star Patrick Lui, of rock band Tai Chi, to be speaker of a public event, to share his experience with hearing loss, and the positive changes to his work and life brought about by using a hearing aid.

1. Take the initiative to cooperate with local associations for the disabled and medical institutions to promote the “love your ears” campaign.
2. Understand the usage of cochlear implant users and provide on-site professional rehabilitation guidance.
3. Conduct cochlear implant programming and maintenance activities on site for cochlear implant users.

On March 1 – 3, 2023 together with the Sompok Clinic in Semarang, ear cleaning activities were carried out for Sompok Elementary School students. 147 students were examined, from this activity 60 children had cerumen extraction and 5 children with tonsillitis. Counseling : Love Your Ears and Hearing, during the discussion session there were many questions from the participants and the participants became more aware of ear and hearing problems.

On 21 – 23 February 2023 Komda PGPKT Central Java Province carried out an ENT examination and ear cleaning activity which was attended by employees and their families at the ENT clinic at RSUD Dr. R. Employees of Financial recovery office are those who recover loan amount. This is a stressful job along with intense telecalling. Frequent calls and stressful work increases the risk of developing hearing loss in them. Thus GoHearing organized a free hearing screening camp for them on the occasion of the World Hearing Day 2023. The information of camp was circulated through the flyer floated in social media and banners. The hearing screening was done by Otoscopy and PTA. We screened 56 employees and as per report hearing status of all of them was normal. Despite of risk of hearing loss due to profession none of them was discovered with hearing loss.During their councelling we came to know that they follow healthy diet and use precautionary hearing health habits. Nil incidence of hearing loss is the indication that now hearing health is too becoming priority health factors for the general public.

On World Hearing day 2023 Swarsangya Charitable Trust organised free hearing screening camp for Neonates at Surat, Gujarat, India. Though Surat is a metropolitan city of India still due to lack of awareness neonatal hearing screening is not 100%. From a long time we are working to reduce the incidence of hearing loss due to lack of awareness. The information was floated through social media and was also done using pamphlet and banners. Hearing screening was provided to about 100 neonates brought to the camp. The screening was done by OAE and reports were shared in print form. We also provided counselling to all the parents and their family members visited our hearing screening camp regarding the vital role of neonatal hearing screening. Neonatal hearing screening is as important as the vaccine is important for healthy life of child. Hearing Screening ensure the hearing and speech health of child.

The educational seminar for Community Health Center medical staff and the distribution of leaflets was held on March 2, 2023 and was attended by 42 medical staff from the health centers in the Jepara Regency. The theme of World Hearing Day on March 3, 2023 is Ear and Hearing Care for All! Let’s make it a reality. Taking the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou as an opportunity, EzHearExperts has launched 2023 Hearing-Impaired Accessible Asian Games Plan: Spring of Hearing, which plans to carry out comprehensive hearing health care work for the elderly and hearing health education for children in the existing and planned development areas of EzHear company. Specifically the project includes hearing screening for the elderly, providing universal hearing rehabilitation services for the elderly with hearing impairment,donating hearing aids to local disability associations,and screening for cognitive impairment of the elderly with hearing impairment.

We held a talk on “Caring for Hearing Health, Embracing a Healthy Life” in one community. About 40 residents participated in the activity. Ear examinations were conducted on site, questions raised by residents were answered and pamphlets on the prevention of hearing loss were distributed. Free hearing tests and hearing aid accessories are available in March. The community has 50,000 residents, and we also promoted it on wechat. I published a popular science article on hearing protection on the wechat official account of “I wish You Health Magazine”. It currently has 2,182 readings.

To commemorate World Hearing Day and World Down Syndrome Day, THTBKL FK USU in collaboration with POTADS SUMUT and PGPKT KOMDA SUMUT held a community service event of ear cleaning and OAE auditory screening examination to children with down syndrome. In this event, about 100 children with down syndrome were subjects to aural toilet and auditory screened with OAE.

A James Lind Alliance (JLA) Priority Setting Partnership (PSP), to identify and prioritise unanswered research questions about coexisting dementia and hearing conditions, was launched on World Hearing Day 2023. The PSP is coordinated by the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and the University of Nottingham, in collaboration with Alzheimer’s Research UK and the Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID). The PSP launch publicity campaign reached both national and international news outlets and audiences.

The PSP will bring together people living with dementia and hearing conditions, their families and clinicians to identify the top priorities for research about the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of these conditions. The steering group of key representatives who are guiding the PSP will meet for the first time in April 2023.

An awareness camp was organised by Shrawan Shakti, at Almora and inaugurated by the senior scientists of ICMR Dr. Ravinder Singh and Dr Ashoo Grover. This seminar addressed Aganwadi workers. The participants were provided information about importance of hearing in our lives and management of ear diseases. A good referral system can save many children from living with disability whole life. Amit Maurya addressed the workers how to bring the patients to the concerned authorities and told them how to tell the people to consult ear expert in cases of any kind of discharge from the ears. He also told the participants to download the hearWHO app so that hearing of a patient can be checked. Some started telling their life experiences and promised to identify the hearing impaired people.

Event 1: There is lack of audiology / ENT services in rural areas of Pakistan. It cause barrier in early identification and intervention, also many people particularly women are unable to get disability certificate and not get counted in disability data due to lack of audiology / ENT services. So we arranged a dialogue between rural community leaders and government to improve access to hearing health in rural areas. In the program Chief Guest, Special assistant to Chief Minister ensured that his department will consider the situation and will take action to improve access to hearing health in rural areas. 60 Participants from Rural areas of Sindh – Pakistan participated in this event. Event was organized by Danishkadah in collaboration with MDI, and Hearing Screen provided by SignOReb.

We have conducted a series of promotional activities in the communities of Shanghai China, our hospital, and Shanghai Municipality television and radio stations.
On 2nd March, In Linfen Community of Baoshan District, Shanghai, we organized a big event with the municipal health promotion organization, community health management officers, together with municipal media to give a lecture on world hearing day and hearing care, following free hearing screening and hearing impairment consult. More than 10 mainstream media reported on our activities and promoted the theme of Earl Day to more than 5 million general public.
On 2nd March, our doctors also participated in a program on radio hearing protection and answered the audience’s questions about hearing protection.
On 3rd March, our physicians and hearing technicians provide free ear disease consultation and hearing testing for patients for half a day.

This event was held throughout March for public education in Instagram, Radio and other media. The event aimed to raise awareness in communities about the importance of ear and hearing care and encourage them to seek for care. There were 5 Instagram live events and 3 Radio Broadcasts to commemorate World Hearing Day. There were also youtube and news media coverage.

Firstly, we submitted application to local government formally early this month, and then we were invited to attend an official meeting on 17th, March, which obtained supports from local government and relative institutes to promote auditory screening before International Children’s Day 2023.
Secondly, we held a series of Auditory Health&Cognition lectures online, especially posted short videos on we-Media such as TikTok、WeChat、Jinri Toutiao and others, which reaches over 100,000 amount of readers.

This webinar was held by WHO CC for Prevention of Deafness and Hearing Impairment INO 19, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Department Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital-Faculty of Medicine University of Indonesia, and Public Health Office Jakarta Province on 4 March 2023. The event aimed to increase knowledge and skill for all primary care doctors in Jakarta and nationwide (Indonesia) with the WHO guidance for primary ear and hearing care training manual.
The event was successful and attended by 412 general practitioner in Indonesia (nationwide). The topics were including: Early detection and Hearing Screening in Primary Care, Ear Problem in Daily Practice, Hearing and Balance Problem in Elderly, The Impact of Hearing Problem on the Quality of Life of Elderly.

A Wikipedia Edit-a-thon webinar was held prior to World Hearing Day for GPODHH members to learn how to make information about hearing and universal health care topics freely available to everyone. GPODHH members have added some edits and citations to Wikipedia content focussing on support for families who are deaf or hard of hearing.

GPODHH members co-ordinated the translation of World Hearing Day 2023 information into 28 additional languages.

In celebration of World Hearing Day 2023, Dr Dalia Tsimpida and colleagues organised a series of activities to raise awareness about the importance of monitoring ear and hearing health indicators in public health surveillance systems.

These activities included:

1. A public engagement event titled “Listen Up”, which promoted the World Health Organization’s theme of “Ear and Hearing Care for All.”

2. Creation of an animated short video titled “Listen Up: A Call for a World where Everyone can Hear and be Heard”.

3. A policy-facing event to present the preliminary findings of a new project led by Dr Dalia Tsimpida, which aims to investigate socio-spatial hearing health inequality in Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care System (ICS) to support evidence-based policy making.

4. Written evidence to the UK Parliament, emphasising the importance of including hearing health indicators in government plans and monitoring the severity of hearing loss across the country.

The event held on March 3, 2023, at the Centre’s Conference Hall at the University of Ghana launched the ‘Hearing Impairment Resource Pack’, which raises awareness of deafness and provide essential basic information on ear care, aimed to sensitized target population on seeking early assistance. Present at the gathering included journalists and media personalities from both traditional and electronic media, members of the deaf community, staff of schools for Deaf in Ghana and a representative from the Ghana Health Service. The resource pack contains information and contact details of different organizations, schools, and health facilities in Ghana that provide varied supportive and assistive service to the Deaf community. Key research findings from hearing impairment genetic investigations conducted at WACCBIP were presented at the meeting. Participants deliberated on highlights from the research findings, and varied perspectives that focused on the theme for 2023 World Hearing Day celebration were shared as well.

ATEST (journal for safety officers) together with 3M Poland (safety company) organized hybrid conference “Have you heard, noise is harmful?”. The conference was announced via social media, journals and reached 14000 people. To the conference joined more than 150 accounts joined. During discussion panel experts from National Labour Inspectorate, National Safety Officers Association, Training Centers, Safety Journals, Safety Companies, and hearing enthusiasts discussed hearing topics, why the WHD matters and why we need to promote ear and hearing care. Main topic was focused on understanding why well-trained in safety and self-aware workers don’t use their hearing knowledge in practice and change their behaviors to expose to excessive noise. All discussed the ways to make more effective trainings eg with fit testing use or audiometric tests. Especially fot the conference and WHD special issue of ATEST journal was prepared in paper version (circulation of 4000 copies).

The workshop was conducted on 6 of March 2023 based on the World Hearing Day theme; Ear and hearing care for all! Let’s make it a reality.
The workshop started at 8:00 am till 13:30 p.m. Attended by 70 primary health care professionals: including General practitioners, medical officers, pediatrician, ENT nurses, speech and language therapists and school health nurses. The WHO resource materials were shared with the participants as a soft copy.
Arabic local radio and online social media platforms were also used to raise awareness and to promote hearing health among the general public. Senior ENT consultant conducted an awareness talk show on local radio.

The 3rd of March 2023 the Czech Association of Cochlear Implant Users (SUKI) hosted in Prague the educational and award event ”Hallo, can you hear me?” consisting of educational lectures for healthcare workforce but also for people with hearing impairment and their families. The lectures were related mainly to the rehabilitation after CI operation at adults and the benefit of bilateral cochlear implatations. In the second half of the event, the Association of Cochlear Implant Users (SUKI) honoured several professionals from the Czech Republic to thank them for their remarkable contribution to the development of healthcare for people with hearing impairment. The event was available also as a live-stream. The material of WHO were translated into Czech and were available printed during the event and also on the website and social networks of SUKI.

Uganda Federation of hard of hearing (UFHOH) commemorated 3rd march WHD at Masaka regional referral Hospital with other sister organizations, Ministry of health representatives, and Association of Audiologists offering free Audiology services in the greater Masaka region.
UFHOH held an engagement meeting with national environment Management Authority (NEMA) a government entity with the mandate of regulating noise and sound pollution in the Communities to understand objectives of Commemorating World Hearing Day and recommended good practices from the World report on hearing on safe listening for integration in its strategy.
UFHOH held safe listening awareness sessions with 8 academic institutions primary, secondary and University level to trigger behavioral changes towards safe listening.
UFHOH wrote articles in Government newspapers on Hearing loss awareness and promoted WHD key messages on social media across different channels reaching over 9 million people.
UFHOH printed and disseminated training manuals for healthcare providers in 7 Hospitals.

The Department of Otolaryngology and Cochlear Implant at the Center for Specialty Surgeries in Benghazi, Libya held an event entitled “School Hearing Screening”, targeted schoolchildren. The activity was conducted at two local schools where ear examination and hearing screening were carried out on 43 first grade students. Short awareness talk on ear and hearing care was given to school staff members and students.

This event is ear and hearing examination on mental retardation community. The event was held at a POTADS headquarter involving more than 200 kids with metal retardation and also local stakeholders. This activity focuses on ear and hearing examinations, counceling and discussion.

We organized and collaborated to arrange 2 separate hearing camps:

1) A hearing test drive was conducted on World Hearing Day for 20 children at Ramchandra Kurulkar Bahuuddeshiya Shikshan Sansthan, Panvel – a residential orphanage for hearing loss.

2) In addition, a Hearing Screening Camp was organized at and in collaboration with Saifee Hospital on March 12, 2023, on the occasion of World Hearing Day and was attended by 30 participants; of which 90% were senior citizens in the age group of 75 years. The camp saw patients often being confused about their hearing loss condition being an age-related issue. However, after counseling and undertaking hearing aid trials they were satisfied. 5 patients were counseled to undergo cochlear implants as per their diagnosis.

The above 2 camps ensured hearing care for all age groups was taken into consideration.

This event is entitled ear health, smart and cheerful hearing. The event was held at a tourist spot involving the Maritime and Fisheries Service Affairs and local stakeholders. This activity focuses on ear and hearing examinations, counceling and discussion.

BIO launched several initiatives for PEHC in China. One of the initiatives was a short film production which aimed to introduce the national policy on the Prevention and Treatment of Hearing Loss and emphasized the importance of primary ear and hearing care. Policy-makers, leaders of MOH participated in the recording to raise awareness in the community and among health officials. Live events were also organized, with a total of over 2 million viewers. Another initiative was the promotion of hearing screening through tele-audiology and the training of community health workers on the use of the hearWHO app, around 5000 subjects took the DIN test. WHO materials were also distributed through booklets and social media channels for the event. About 1900 pieces of WHO promotional materials were distributed to community residents. Lastly, a press conference on the translation of WHO’s PEHC training materials was held around the WHD.

On March 03, 2023, doctors and specialists from more than 20 public and private hospitals celebrated the “WORLD HEARING DAY” under the motto “EAR AND HEARING CARE FOR ALL! LET’S MAKE IT A REALITY”. Within the framework of the World Hearing Day, otolaryngologists of the aforementioned hospitals shared information about the prevalence of ear and hearing diseases, their diagnosis and treatment. Through television interviews, video contents, posters and brochures; information on preventing hearing loss and deafness and how to develop good habits to avoid risks was delivered to the hospital’s clients and the public through the mass media. Promotion activities about “World Hearing Day” were successfully and effectively carried out. The figures and graphic report of the total engagement are provided below.

Educational talks on ear and hearing care were done with the teachers at the various schools and health care facilities. Facilitated webinar using zoom platform. A total of 60 special education teachers were in attendance.

The hearing health team conducted ear and hearing assessment at special education schools in collaboration with the ear, nose and throat specialist and the community pediatrician. One hundred and thirty-one (131) students were seen. Otoscopic examination, curetting of cerumen and ear irrigation were done. Participants were all screened for hearing loss using a portable diagnostic audiometer.

Hearing screening campaign was held in one health region: 16 primary health staff had diagnostic audiometry.
Social media cards on safe listening, tips for healthy ears (dos and don’ts), and caring for the ears were developed and shared widely.

We had conducted an awareness camp with clear objective to highlight the importance of OAE screening for new born baby by conducting free trial at the center and also a pediatrician meet was organized for creating awareness of importance of Hearing screening. The audiologist conducted around 72 OAE at various hospitals around Surat. The pediatrician meet was attended by 46 pediatrics .The marketing team with the support of the audiologist successfully designed and achieved the objective .

Fondation Pour l’Audition has submitted an opinion piece in various French newspapers to raise awareness about the importance of taking care of one’s hearing, in the face of the worrying increase in hearing disorders worldwide, especially among young people. Thus, FPA recommends systematic hearing screening at three stages of life: 25, 45, and 65 years old.

In support of World Hearing Day 2023, the University Of Pretoria Department Of Speech Language
Pathology and Audiology, a World Health Organization collaboration centre, conducted several
hearing promotion and prevention campaigns with the primary objective of informing the general
public about the importance of ear and hearing health. The first campaign was at Generaal Beyers
Primary School where prevention and promotion presentations were made with all learners in Grade
1-5. The presentation focused on safe listening and ear hygiene practices as well as seeking help for
hearing concerns. The second campaign was on campus, where free hearing screenings and
presentations on healthy hearing were offered to students. In reaching a large audience, the
University used different media platforms including Tuks FM, Power FM and Channel Afrika to
spread the message of good ear and listening hygiene.

4) Prof Wahab Owolawi, King Saud University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who spoke about the training and services in Nigeria.

Se formaron 33 profesionales de la salud , con distintos perfiles a nivel nacional , que conforman los 20 equipos nacionales de salud auditiva y lenguaje.

As every year on March 3 we celebrate World Hearing Day. La Carrera de Fonoaudiología de la Universidad del Desarrollo (The Speech Pathology career of the Universidad del Desarrollo), through Centro de Investgación de la Audición, los Sentidos y la Comunicación (the research center of hearing, senses and communication) CESCO, was present on this day in order to promote the hearing health of the population.
We have a stand at the University where contests on the sense of hearing were held and flyers were handed out with tips on hearing care.
Also this year we were accompanied by Otto, our ear-shaped mascot who was in charge of making visible in the student community the importance of checking our hearing and preventing diseases to listen for life.

In 2023, the Hearing Implant Program of the ENT and speech therapy unit of the Dr. Luis Calvo Mackenna Hospital created graphic material for the visibility and acceptance of hearing loss. “Super oídos” (“Super ears”) is a children’s story that promotes the acceptance and permanent use of their hearing aids, highlighting the importance of hearing.
This material has an accessible and economical format, to maximize its distribution to those who require it.

In the primary care health center of the Renca municipality, and with the presence of the health ministry and municipality authorities, OPS Chile, ENT Chilean Society, and audiologist Chilean Society. We launched this document, which addresses the prevention of hearing loss by avoiding exposure to noise and other ototoxic drugs, the proper management of acute otitis media, timely referral in suspected hearing loss or chronic otitis media, hearing screening in the course of life, and guaranteed treatment alternatives. Focused on primary health and obstetric services professionals.

Raduga Zvukov is the largest clinic network of hearing care in Russia and Eastern Europe. On March 3 we organized a free event called “S zabotoy o sluhe” (“About hearing with care” in English). The event included:

1. Interactive exhibition and lectures. Visitors could try a large amount of hearing aids, try hearing aid simulator, learn how ears function and what the procedure for a hearing test is

2. Art exhibition of Sergey Kosyakov — a doctor and a painting artist. His works focus on ear structure

3. The show “O tebe” (“About you” in English) performed by the Nedoslov theater. There are deaf and hearing impaired actors in this theater who communicate with their audience with sign language and dances. Raduga Zvukov donated a few hearing aids to the actors.

Dhwani Aurica recently held a successful event in which over 450 people received free hearing and eye Checkup. A stage talk focused on educating the local elderly community about ear and hearing care, as well as a short campaign at Grandparents Park, were part of the event. Throughout the event, experienced audiologists provided free ear and hearing checkups to attendees, allowing them to learn about their safe listening skills. Along with the checkups, pamphlets with information about ear and hearing care were distributed. The stage talk educated the elderly community on the importance of regular hearing checkup, how to maintain good ear and hearing health, and how to identify hearing loss symptoms at early stage. The event raised awareness about the importance of ear hygiene & safe listening .The event was a huge success, providing the community with valuable services and education related on account of world Hearing Day2023.

Serbian Society of Otorhinolaryngology organized a two-day symposium in Belgrade, Serbia, under the title: Hearing and Vocal Hygiene, to mark the annual World Hearing Day 2023.
On March 6th, we gathered otolaryngologists, audiologists and speech therapists who analyzed the following subjects:
I masterclass shed light on the importance of early hearing loss detection in neonates and infants and the role of neonatal hearing loss screening program. We emphasized the link between speech impediments and hearing loss and discussed tinnitus as an early symptom of hearing impairment.
II masterclass focused on current hearing loss treatment options- both hearing aids and available surgical techniques.
On March 7th, we additionally welcomed our phoniatricians and vocal coaches.
III masterclass concentrated on hearing loss prevention, while tackling the problem of occupational and daily noise exposure along with ototoxicity.
Finally, IV masterclass brought attention to vocal hygiene, while illustrating various ways of maintaining a healthy voice.

The event were held at an elementary school: SDIT Bina Insan Palu, which aims to clean and treat the ears of students in the context of world hearing day

The 60s Up Project used an innovative and community-focused way to promote better hearing health. Launched by local NGO, All Ears Cambodia, it targeted older people. The ageing process is the commonest cause of inner ear damage in adults and most people over sixty are affected. In Khmer society, elders are valued and creating awareness of health issues is often best achieved using elders as advocates of health care. By working with monks at local wats (Buddhist temples), the event provided ear health education and hearing screens. The wats are community focal points for older people and play an important role in offering social support for vulnerable people. All Ears Cambodia created awareness of age-related hearing loss and offered hearing tests and hearing aids for those in need. Focus was on hearing and ageing whilst highlighting the need for regular hearing tests and the importance of early intervention.

On March 3, 2023, International Hearing Day, Beijing Society of Audiology and Tencent SSV jointly held an online technical seminar titled “AI for technological development and application innovation workshop”.The workshop invited experts and scholars in the field of AI hearing assistance and assistive listening in China to discuss online the current research progress and practical achievements of AI in the field of hearing health, to unite the advantages of resources from various aspects and promote the joint development of industry, academia, research and practical use to help more people with hearing loss to hear better and integrate into the digital society.

Following is the report of activities done by department of ENT of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur for “World Hearing day 2023”:
1. Hearing Screening Camp at Old Age Home at Besa, Nagpur on 18th March 2023.
2. Training of medical students in using “hearWHO pro app” for hearing screening done on 18th February, 2023. Twenty students of Third phase MBBS students were given hands-on experience in checking the hearing levels in patients using hearWHO mobile application.
3. Online CME on the topic ” Deafness Awareness” for Medical Officers and health care workers in Nagpur District was held on 2nd March 2023
4. Free hearing aids distribution was done to 29 hearing disabled persons on 3rd March 2023.
5. Public awareness campaign using WHO IEC material conducted via audio-visual display at OPD block of AIIMS Nagpur. This was displayed at the patient waiting areas of the OPD block.

On occasion of World Hearing Day 2023, Dr. SRCISH, Bengaluru conducted awareness programs to Primary Health Care professionals on “Early Identification & Intervention of Hearing Loss”. Delivered an awareness talk on “Ear and Hearing Care for All-Let’s make it a reality” at Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru on 3rd March 2023 for duration of 1 hour with demonstration of KARNA. This mannequin was developed by the institute, called the ‘Karna’ a replica of ‘Jouline’ created by Dangerous Decibels headed by Dr Billy Martin measures the levels of music played by one’s personal music system in the ear.The program was well received by the students with many queries on ear and hearing health & music induced hearing loss. We distributed 17 hearing aids of behind-the-ear & receiver-in-the-canal types donated by Sonova Hearing India Pvt Ltd. WHO materials like flyers were used during the activities.

To celebrate the WHD 2023, HHR in collaboration with ROHNSS, Humanhood Clinics and Ministry of Health held various activities to raise awareness on ear and hearing health. The activities included a visit to IFS school for the deaf where we provide scholastic materials to 30 vulnerable deaf children. We help a health talk with pupils attending a public school in Kigali city and conducted an ear and hearing screening and treatment drive. 341 children were screened, 86 had impacted wax while 16 were found to have disabling hearing loss. HHR also organized a live radio show on the national radio station. This show which was aired for an hour was educative and interactive with question and answer session.
These activities were reported by several media houses online and traditional media. An estimated 2 million people were reached.

La literatura científica a prestado poca atención al estudio del ruido derivado de actividades de ocio, paradójicamente estas actividades pueden superar los niveles de algunos ambientes laborales considerados ruidosos, como el ruido social, en fábricas, en discotecas, dispositivos con o sin auriculares, etc., pueden ser un factor de riesgo importante en la contribución de daño auditivo inducido por ruido. Se sugiere campaña de Prevención ante exposición del ruido en estos lugares y evitar trauma acústico en los jóvenes.

TV interview and live streaming of hearing protection knowledge with ENT experts and Audiologists （2.434 million people watched）. We also reported all the activities in our local newspaper. Free consult (limited numbers, first come first serve)for 120 patients. Lectures for primary school students and free hearing tests for them to help them aware of hearing care and protection. WHO materials and hearing loss awareness/self-check information were offered for people with and without hearing loss.

We held some seminars and workshop for General Practitioners focusing on hearing problems, how to diagnose any diseases that General Practitioners should be capable to handle as first line health care provider.

World Hearing Day Commemoration at Car Free Day Events. We did some public education by distributing flyers, spread news about hearing at the main stage and did some service such us free check for hearing and ear conditions, we clean people’s ear who had any cerumen or other problems and give free consultation etc.

We advocated for world hearing day on our social media pages throughout the month of February and shared WHO resource materials.
We used our monthly large group meeting on March 4th 12pm GMT to highlight work done by members and non members around the world that focus on ear and hearing problems. This included work done in Fiji, Ghana, Ukraine and the USA. The presentations highlighted efforts to enact policy change and provide ear and hearing care resources in areas that have limited resources and work force.

Otolaryngologists from College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria conducted advocacy activities: an interactive seminar for senior policy makers in the health sector in Oyo State, Nigeria on implementation of Primary Ear and Hearing Care (PEHC). Matters discussed were the importance PEHC inclusion into primary healthcare (PHC) using existing personnel and facilities, foreseen challenges and suggested solutions, health insurance coverage for PEHC thus reducing burden of out-of-pocket health expenses.

Subsequently, a training on PEHC was held for senior health workers from several PHCs within Oyo State, Nigeria. At the post-training interactive session the participants underscored the need to display information charts on PEHC within PHCs, refresher training schedules, strengthening of referral pathway for patients and the need for PEHC desk officer at the Primary Healthcare Board.

Finally, an interview promoting the importance of commencing Ear and Hearing Care in PHC was published in a major Nigerian newspaper.

On 11 March 2023, Audiologist from Penang State (Hospital Pulau Pinang, Hospital Bukit Mertajam and Hospital Seberang Jaya) has jointly successfully organised World Hearing Day 2023 in Mydin Hypermarket, Bertam, Penang, Malaysia. We are very proud to have our Dato’ Dr Teo Gim Sian (Deputy state health director of Penang) to officiate the ceremony. During the opening day, several activities such as hearing screening for babies below 6 months old, awareness booth from Audiologi, Speech, Occupational Therapist, ENT doctors, Hearing aid center and lactation clinic; blood donation etc.

The Window Approach Workshop is an international surgical course for surgeons interested in hearing implants.
It is a two-day event consisting of three parts: lectures, live surgeries and hands-on training in the laboratory.
The event took place at the World Hearing Center, in Kajetany, Poland.
This time the event was open to students of medicine to share otology knowledge.
Besides, in the premises of the World Hearing Center which is open to public and to the patients there were posters and information boards based on WHO posters.
The information action was conducted on Polish TV who hosted the Institute’s doctors and on social media on the WHC facebook fan page and website.

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery of Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center started the celebration of World Hearing Day 2023 by posting an infographic in the municipal led wall of Batac, Ilocos Norte on March 3, 2023. We also posted our infographic and WHO educational/publicity materials in our social media page from March 3-10, 2023.

On March 5, 2023, Dr. Joy C. Alvarez, our department clinical audiologist, did a live radio guesting about ear and hearing care in our local radio station, Bombo Radyo Laoag.

On March 6, 2023, we conducted an ear care mission and layman lecture to 140 grade school students, along with their parents or guardians, in Doña Josefa Edralin Marcos Elementary School in Currimao, Ilocos Norte.

We also provided free hearing test (pure tone audiometry) to 16 hospital employees with some hearing difficulties from March 6-10, 2023 and was advised appropriately.

The Hearing Rotary Action Group had earlier given over 300 hearing aids to the Vintage Hearing Foundation but distribution was hampered by the high cost. It was a welcome idea to distribute the hearing aids as part of the World Hearing Day Celebration organised by the University of Medical Sciences UNIMED, Ondo. At the event, I shared my story “My Special journey of hearing challenged to an advocate of the hearing solution”. Thereafter, we had Ear checks and hearing tests for the over 200 people who responded to radio and social media advertisements. The turnout was great and test continued on Monday 6th but at the count of 112 hearing aids, we had to turn back people because of the cost implication, The event was reported in national dailies and my interview was published in a newspaper. It was a beautiful experience for everyone

The world hearing day celebration for the year 2023 was successfully celebrated by the Ear, nose and throat (ENT) Nurses group upper east Ghana. Underneath were the objectives for the program;
To screen for ear diseases and hearing impairment for all patients who turnout to the hospital at the OPD.
To deliver a presentation on the role of nurses in the prevention of ototoxicity at the Talensi District hospital.
To deliver a health talk about hearing in the local language through a radio station

BSA conducted a poster competition for BSA members and none members. The prize for best poster was for existing members and none members to receive one years free membership, and a framed A3 sized poster of their entry. The 6th Bandung Audiology Workshop is an annual event to commemorate World Hearing Day consisting of a symposium and ear examination practice. This year’s Bandung Audiology Workshop takes the topic “Middle Ear Infection”. This event’s objective was to increase the latest knowledge and insights for general practitioners and practitioners regarding middle ear infections, improve clinical skills of examination and up-to-date diagnosis for general practitioners of middle ear infections, and as a meeting to outreach facility for all general practitioners and health practitioners.

Workshops: Workshops were held on topics such as communication strategies for people with hearing loss, how to properly clean and care for hearing aids, and how to advocate for better hearing care.

we started the event at 9AM on second March, six more docs were there offering hearing tests for free, as well as ear endoscope,etc. there were more than 60 people anticipating our activity, and hearing center for clinical services were also packed. we also provided gene detection for some youngsters who have been deaf since childhood.

we started the event at 9AM on second March, six more docs were there offering hearing tests for free, as well as ear endoscope,etc. there were more than 60 people anticipating our activity, and hearing center for clinical services were also packed. we also provided gene detection for some youngsters who have been deaf since childhood.

From 26 on February until 28 on March, 2023, We doing great activity ENT. We check six hundred students, found many ear wax, tonsil and small something inner their ears.
We printed material education, such as poster and handbook.

An open day was held to educate the public on topics related to ear and hearing. The event included a talk, free ear checks, and a demonstration of hearing technology. Refreshments were also provided. A prominent local charity in the hearing care sector was present to showcase their services for hearing technology users. The event was widely publicised via email, reaching over 12,000 people and social media reaching around 5200 more. The room was filled to capacity with 20 attendees. The singer of the band Blitz, who is very well known in the country, wore the hearing care shirt to alert musicians and singers to the need for periodic audiometry. The event aimed to promoting hearing health awareness among the public. The event consisted of both offline and online activities, with nearly 100 hearing experts from various fields participating in the offline event. The highlight of the event was the demonstration of a simple hearing screening test designed to be easy to use and allow people to assess their hearing at home. The online event involved 30 KOLs and YouTubers promoting the simple hearing screening test through social media platforms. 167 patients over 60 years old had been examined with or without hearing problems.

On March 3rd, the “National Ear Day” promotional activity jointly organized by Hunan Provincial Health Commission, Hunan Disabled Persons’ Federation, and other departments was solemnly held in the studio of Hunan Education Television Station. Mei Lingyun, director of Otolaryngology Department at Xiangya Hospital, gave a science lecture on “Pay attention to ear health”, focusing on the full life cycle management of ear health, paying attention to the hearing health of the elderly, and understanding the hazards caused by hearing loss. More than 400,000 people watched the event online.

On March 3rd, the medical staff of the Department of Otolaryngology at Xiangya Hospital carried out a popular science activity for children and teachers in Hongyuan Kindergarten. The main content includes: popularized the knowledge of ear care, such as the basic structure of ear, the causes and treatment measures of ear pain; carried out ear endoscopy for children；popularized the “Heimlich method” to kindergarten teachers and caregivers.This activity improves the cognitive level of children and their families’ hearing health, and practices the concept of “full life cycle hearing health”.

This was attended by policy makers and government officials. The University of Santo Tomas Hospital Department of ORL-HNS in collaboration with the University of Santo Tomas Master in Clinical Audiology and Faculty of Medicine and Surgery held a week-long celebration for World Hearing Day. It is composed of a 4-day medical mission composed of ear consultation and hearing tests at our partnered community health centers in Manila and Q.C. On March 3, 2023 ORL-HNS residents together with the UST Master in Clinical Audiology conducted training for community workers for practical guidance on preventing, identifying, andmanaging hearing loss and ear disease.

We organized an ear and hearing health camp involving quarry workers from administrative section to field workers. We managed to screen 35 workers, 1/3 of the total number of workers who will be screened in the next two similar camps. An awareness talk on noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) and the importance of detection and prevention. It was then followed by an ear examination. Prior to these, a KAP (Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) questionnaire was distributed to assess their KAP scores. The Global Audiology group from the University of Melbourne promoted awareness of the importance of hearing health. We provided resources such as QR code pamphlets in regard to hearing health and access to audiological services in Melbourne, Australia. Video otoscopy allowed students to look inside their ears as we educated them on wax management and how it is a healthy part of our body. We also started conversations with students on safe listening practices and the dangers of noise exposure. Noise protection was handed out to students and correct insertion methods were instructed.

The otolaryngology Department of Shenzhen Baoan Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Jinan University Organized a free clinic on World Hearing Day to conduct hearing screening for children and promote hearing protection among the surrounding residents.On World Hearing Day,we have conducted more than 200 cases of hearing consultation for the surrounding residents, and popularized hearing protection knowledge.

On the day of the activity,Director of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery share the knowledge about how to protect our hearing to the public through the Shanxi SATELLITE TV. Deputy director Planned the “WHD” special shows with Shanxi Health Voice’s “Expert Clinic” program. The QMMC Department of ORL-HNS celebrated World Hearing Day 2023 with a whole-day affair of hearing screening and showing of audio-visual presentations on proper ear care and prevention of hearing loss for hospital employees and community members of Barangay Escopa. Through its barangay officials, we forged a partnership for future primary and hearing care activities. Ear examination and hearing screening using the hearWHO app, manual and automated screening audiometers were performed; those waiting in queue watched silent short video clips on proper ear care and prevention of hearing loss.

On March 1, we held a lecture in Furui community with TEDA community health service center Furui health station. We explained the knowledge of hearing protection for residents and distributed publicity materials. Then provide free ear examination for residents.
On March 3, we performed a free clinic in the first floor hall of the outpatient department to answer questions for otological patients and perform otological examinations. Hearing aid fitting experts provide hearing aid fitting, free maintenance of hearing aids and tuner.

The North West Hospital Health Service (NWHHS) provided an interactive display in the hospital’s main foyer. Staff, patients and visitors were able to come and see their own eardrums with the use of our video otoscope, we also included tympanometry testing to check their middle ear function. The Audiology assistant was there to provide information on the NWHHS hearing services and well as answering any questions on hearing and ear health. Our community Woolworths supplied the day with healthy foods including carrots, apples and personal tissues.

On 2nd and 3rd March 2023,ORL Department of Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Temerloh Pahang organized interesting events in conjunction with World Hearing Day 2023.For the first day,we held treasure-hunt activity that involved primary healthcare workers from government health clinic in Pahang’s area.We provided to them various information about promoting ear and hearing care while enjoying the activity.For second day,we provided informative talks about the importance of early detection and intervention of hearing loss.We also focused on information about hearing aid and cochlear implant.

The impact and prevention of noise-induced hearing loss to educators in several regions of China in a virtual interactive presentation on February 21, 2023. Following this presentation, participants asked questions regarding prevention and reported their use of listening devices. A PowerPoint was used in the presentation and all interactions were translated.

On March 3rd, HuaSheng Hearing organized various activities in many cities in Hubei province, including lectures, and free hearing screening. To propagate the importance of hearing to the public, HuaSheng also prepared some gifts and flyers for people who attended the activities. More than thousands of people of all ages joined these events, and most of them felt grateful after they joined the activities. What could be more impressive was some elders decided to accept hearing intervention to improve their life quality after they finished lectures and understood the importance of hearing.

Focusing on what general public can do to take care of their hearing and hearing-related health anytime and anywhere they need, we carried out three activities on this year’s World Hearing Day around the theme “Ear and hearing care for all! Let’s make it a reality.” We provided free medical consultations at the clinic site to more than sixty patients who have been suffered from hearing loss and tinnitus. At the event, we also organized Free Ear Nose Throat Screening and Treatment with consultation of ear and hearing care, Painting programme and 150 students with hearing loss playing at the Playground of WB Arena.

We designed and posted the earcare materials on our official social meadia platform like WeChat chat-groups and brought the hearing screening device( with DPOAE and Tympanometer) to assist the local healthcare community to conduct the free hearing screening program for the local people in March 3rd World Hearing Day, we helped two hospitals to conduct the free hearing screening for over 200 adults and recommended one video about the hearing loss simulator and attracted over 30,000 viewers,500 Likes and 1600 referals.

On March 3-4, 2023, the ENT of Nanjing Municipal Hospital Of T.C.M held the World Hearing Day to remind the general public to improve their knowledge of primary health care of protect ears. The specific contents include: 1. Holding free clinic activities in hospitals and communities to educate the public about ear health, common hearing problems and preventive measures. 2. Earway Hearing is a Good National Hearing in China，also known as ‘TingJueYouDao’. This March，Earway Hearing launch a campaign called ‘Free Hearing，healty China’ for the general public. More than 20,000 people participate in our activities.More than 60% of the participants are the elderly.Every March，Earway Hearing will go to public places，such as schools，nursing homes，markets，near parts，etc……and distributes hearing-related pamphlets to local residents，carries out free problems，measures blood pressure，and teaches ear exercises.

To organize otolaryngology doctors and nurses to publicize the medical knowledge of hearing loss, improve patients’ attention to hearing screening, provide free hearing screening and diagnosis for patients with existing hearing loss, provide treatment programs, reduce the burden of patients and caregivers, and improve patients’ quality of life.

A dedicated team from Ear Science Institute Australia developed and implemented a multichannel communications campaign for World Hearing Day designed to increase awareness about hearing loss and promote hearing health.

The medical staff from the Department of Otolaryngology, Department of Ophthalmology, Department of Stomatology and Department of Laboratory of Tongde Hospital of Zhejiang Province conducted a free clinic at the community square (Gudangwan New Village) in Cuiyuan District 5. Yang Jing, attending doctor of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Zhejiang Tongde Hospital, went to the Cuiyuan No. 5 Kindergarten in Xihu District, Hangzhou, China. A sensitization cum awareness workshop regarding hearing health and issues along with significance of world hearing day to be conducted within the premises of Voluntary Medicare Society(VMS). Vision care Hearing solutions conducted special awareness sessions for primary healthcare professionals at 5 main locations, namely Mt Lavinia, Negombo, Maharagama, Kurunegala, & Galle. The program saw the participation of over 200 primary healthcare professionals who were provided with lectures by ENT doctors, followed by a Q&A session to clarify their doubts. To aid in their practice, participants were also given a small booklet containing essential information translated into the local language. Department of ENT and Department of Audiology Speech Language Pathology observed World Hearing Day. Health Care professionals, senior hospital administrators were sensitized about Hearing Care. Materials were displayed in all A/V display units in the hospital and shared in social media. An Awareness walk was carried out in the hospital premises. Posters prepared my medical college students and pamphlets materials translated in the Local language were distributed to the support staff in the hospital and the public visited the hospital were sensitized about hearing care.

The event was conducted at Mondelez India Foods Pvt. Ltd Gwalior industrial unit which employs nearly 1600 employees. This unit is involved in the production of chocolates. The objective of this program was to educate the workforce involved in health and safety engineering at the work site.

Speech and Hearing Association of Nepal has conducted walkathon with the help of speech and hearing professionals working in Nepal. The walkathon was conducted in Kathmandu city and also few urban area of Nepal where students from government school also were included in walkathon to create awareness among public of Nepal. There was also a presentation done in a government school of kathmandu for teachers and parents regarding hearing care and identification of hearing and communication disorders for school going children.

A workshop was organized by our association in the pre-secondary school about ear related diseases and their prevention. And hearing screening done by the our professionals.

An event to spread awareness about importance of ear & hearing health was organized on 3rd March. More than 75 people attended the event at our clinic and got their Ear & Hearing tested.

They were educated about the hearing care and 4 people opted for hearing aids

Audiometry and Hearing Aids: In this Event the patients was tested for Hearing Impairment by Dr Snehal, Speech and Audiologist. And those who are diagnosed with hearing impairment after audiometry provided hearing Aids . total 90 hearing aids given free of cost. Hearing Impairment Awareness Program:This Program was Completed to Village people and the patients who are attending the Audiometry Camp was the audience. the hearing screening program was conducted at two places on 3rd march 2022. Neric academy-where 300 students were tested ,one was fitted with bilateral hearing aids (Naida B30). Awareness program also conducted.
Diagnostic audiometer and otoscope were used during the test.
70 traffic police officials were tested at traffic police headquarters , kathmandu. they were provided with ear protective devices.

PharmaHealthClub, School of Pharmacy in association with WHO organized a celebration on the occasion of World Hearing Day on 3rd March with 3D Ear Model, Routine Hearing Checkup by Pure Tone Audiometry as Digit in Noise test as well as Ear & Hearing Care -An Awareness Online Quiz. More than 90 Candidates benefited from this Hearing Check up Test & 70 members have participated in online quiz.
The Entire Event was co-ordinated by Mr. Tejas Ganatra as well as very well supported by Ms. Ishita Zalavadiya and Mr. Keval Raval and the Volunteers of PharmaHealthClub, School of Pharmacy, RK University.

We received a complimentary stall at the Chittagong International Trade Fair and distributed leaflets and conducted awareness activities to motivate individuals for emphasizing the significance of ear care. We also installed the IEC materials (posters) in various locations in the city. Furthermore, we organized awareness sessions for medical and dental students. We published awareness post on our official Facebook page and website about ear care for better hearing using WHO-supplied materials. With the help of the specialists at CMC hospital, we’ve identified 15 people to provide hearing aids.

On 3rd March 2023,the Samvaad Institute of Speech and Hearing celebrated WHD 2023 with an event attended by 208 people. An exhibition and talks were conducted for school children focusing on signs and symptoms, dos and don’ts, prevention and management for hearing loss. A hearing screening program was carried out on 198 school children and 10 teachers. Pamphlets were also distributed to spread awareness. A free audiological screening program was conducted at the institute from 1st to 7th March for public. Hearing screening camps were conducted at various primary health centers in Bangalore.

After a stand by from 9.00 – 11.00 am at the School Health Unit of SMA N 9 Yogyakarta, there were 4 students, 1 teacher, and 1 retired teacher, and 2 alumni doing consultations on ENT cases and examining ear conditions. In the hearing screening examination using audiometry, we get the results, 1 teacher were detected noarmal in both ears, 1 case of retired teachers and 2 alumni detected decreased hearing at high frequencies.

This activity is a form of hospitality, sharing, and discussing stories for the whole family with cochlear implant patients. This event was in collaboration with Indonesian ORL-HNS Society (PERHATI-KL), Practitioner in the fields of cochlear implants and speech therapy.

We arranged multiple awareness camps / CME on World Hearing Day over a period of 5 days to begin with we conducted awareness programs for schoolchildren and teachers in rural Pondicherry . Also providing free hearing screening camps, identifying the high-risk students and providing necessary care through regular follow up on OPD basis. We organized Industrial visits for the Employees of Ganges International PVT ltd and also conducted Awareness program for Traffic Officials.On 3rd March we concluded the programs with CME approved by TamilNadu Medical Council.

Universal neonatal hearing screeing progrm in Delhi was launched on 3rd March 2023, in the Auditorium of Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. It was attended by the special secretary health of Government of NCT, Delhi and Dr Seema Kapoor, Incharge NEEV mission . Neonatal Hearing Screening will be introduced in all the 31 government hospitals in Delhi. It was started in 4 hopsitals and gradually all the hospitals will be covered. On this occasion of World Hearing Day Dr. Ravi Meher talked about importance of Ear Care and Universal hearing screening.

The consultant community physician from Puttalam District delivered an advocacy presentation about the importance of screening the population for ear and hearing problems. As a resource, a PowerPoint presentation (WHO 2023 primary ear and hearing care manual was adopted for the presentation) was used and local data of hearing defects are discussed. The medical officer of ENT General Hospital Chilaw led a workshop on assessing hearing disorders and ear abnormalities at the primary care level. We conducted screening as well as different awareness-raising programs like exhibitions, lectures, and distribution of IEC materials to the patients and their attendants at the hospital and community level on ear and hearing care. More than 200 community people were screened and about 500 people got aware of hearing and ear problems. IEC materials on ear and hearing care were posted on social media to reach large audiences.

A video montage was shown, related posters were on display, and booths from hearing aid companies were open for the public to stop by and get information on how to prevent and treat hearing issues. We also commemorated the 20-year anniversary of our UNHS program, which has been running successfully in identifying a significant number of congenital hearing losses for early management. Concurrently, ear examinations and counseling for refugees were carried out at nearby humanitarian clinics. Nearly 150 refugees came to the clinic with ear complaints, ie active ear discharge and tinnitus.

On the occasion of World Hearing Day 2023, we had organized a 2 day program at two different venues on 3rd and 4th of March. The first day a camp was organized at Indira Negara primary and high school, chitpady, Udupi. 192 students underwent otoscopy out of which 131 were pass and 61 refer.On 4th march a screening camp was held at Sri Siddhivinayaka Cashews, Santhekkate, Hebri, Karnataka. On noise survey it was found 80-85 dB of noise near the machinery. Workers reported that they work for 8-10 hours a day. Komda PGKT Sumsel was held an interactive talkshow and ENT Examination for child with Down syndrome and their parents. This event was held in March 11, 2023 at Sekolah Olahraga Sriwijaya, Palembang, South Sumatra. We asked other local University/health organization/Bank to join us, such as ORL HNS Department of Universitas Sriwijaya, Perhati BKL Cabang Sumsel Babel, IDI Wilayah Sumsel, IIDI Cabang Palembang, Ikatan Keluarga Anak Dengan Down Sindrom and Bank SumselBabel. About 100 participants were joining this event. We celebrated World Hearing Day and World Down syndrome Day together.

We held promotional lecture to lay people who attended primary health care,mainly parents of baby. The topic was congenital deafness. The event was coordinated with midwifes for vaccination babies.After lecture,we held OAE screening test for babies and children who were brought by parents that day. The World Hearing Day was celebrated at Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences by a street-play performed by the 1st year MBBS students to bring about awareness to the general public on ear problems, how they occur, how they can be prevented stressing the do’s and don’ts, which was followed by a rally from a popular tourist destination Raja’s seat to the Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital. The event was concluded there by an orientation program to the health-care workers and the inauguration of monthly hearing screening & awareness program at the periphery.

The event consist of 2 activities. First, we performed ear surgery for patient with cholesteatoma and tympanic membrane perforation in order to prevent hearing loss and other complications. There were 10 cases of tympanoplasty and 3 cases of mastoidectomy. Second, we conducted a small seminar about ear and hearing care for the patients at the clinic.

An awareness talk on ‘Ear and hearing care for all’ was given for the patients, caregivers, and general public at the clinic on the world hearing day. The translated WHO resource materials were shared with the participants as a hard and soft copy. Also these materials were distributed among general public for creating awareness. The clinical professionals working in the centre were also educated about the same. Short awareness contents and translated resource materials were shared via social media under a theme of World hearing day – 2023

Hearing awareness and screening campaign with the theme “Ear and hearing care for all! Let’s make it a reality” utilizing materials available in WHO website was conducted. Series of events like Awareness rally , awareness talk, screening camp and webinars was conducted from1st to 7th of March, 2023. It included people from general population to policy makers like Deputy Collector, DRO, DDAWO, DSO, SP and DSP. The activity was covered in District and zonal newspapers. The Conducted program successfully made reached of 15,000 pupils and more in Dindigul region, Tamil Nadu India.

The Kalam Institute of Health Technology, Visakhapatnam, India held a free camp for hearing assessment cum hearing aids distribution on 3rdMarch2023 to mark the International Day of Hearing. More than 200 beneficiaries attended the camp in person. The activity brought together the participation of government officials from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.  Among the activities conducted were the hearing screening of infants,children,adults,older adults and the digital hearing aid distributed to identified beneficiaries.

World Hearing day 2023 was observed by the JSS Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysuru. A series of activities were performed from 20/02/2023 to 03/03/2023. Hearing screening programs, the release of posters on ‘Construction noise and its effect on hearing’, ‘Personal Listening Devices and its effect on hearing’ and ‘Industrial noise and its effect on hearing’ and ‘Nada Shamana’ app for tinnitus relief were carried out. Student and faculty of GMERS-Audiology and Speech Language Pathology College (Department of ENT), GMERS Medical College, Ahmedabad, India has conducted a rally near the Gujarat University (oldest and best university of the state of Gujarat , India). Ear Care Nepal (ECN) celebrated World Hearing Day by conducting school ear health program at two government schools. A total of 1,482 children were screened and treated for ear diseases and hearing loss. They were also educated about ear and hearing health using education materials developed in local language. ECN also attended the awareness rally jointly organized by various organizations, which was concluded with a media-briefing event where representatives from all the organizations expressed their greetings and plans to promote ear and hearing health in Nepal.

We reached a major population via in-house campaign, social Media platforms and reaching public on individual basis. The Department of Speech Pathology & Audiology conducted a training program for Accredited social health activists (ASHA) working in Kolar taluk. The Otolaryngology Department’s WHD 2023 event was in accordance with its mission to disseminate knowledge on the theme of “Ear and hearing care for all! Let’s make it a reality” Publicity via social media and a variety of activities, such as ear examinations and hearing screenings carried out on 200 adults and older adults, posters, brochures, and earplugs at an on-site exhibition, were organized at the hospital activity area in order to engage people and raise awareness of safe listening and prevent permanent damage to hearing.

The Department of ENT, UCMS and GTB Hospital, Delhi held a training workshop for medical officers and health care workers for awareness creation and care of ear and hearing at the primary level. It was attended by around 70 participants. A screening camp was organized by “Shruti” in the Outpatient department and a skit was presented by the departmental postgraduates highlighting the preventable causes of hearing loss. A poster competition was organised. The temporal bone dissection lab was inaugurated by the head of the institution.

As part of the awareness program, a painting competition was organized for WHD theme which was participated by children, medics and paramedics. Awards were give to the best paintings.
On 2nd Mar 2023 a newborn hearing screening program workshop was conducted along with demonstration of various hearing solutions available. The focus was on young medics and paramedics who would be conducting these test in future or would be the primary care giver.
On 3rd Mar 2023 the event was followed by a series of lectures by ENT specialist on Ear care, hearing care and CI program in AFMS.

The Department of Disability Studies of the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, organized activities from the 1st of March to the 13th of March 2023 to celebrate World Hearing Day (WHD). The activities that targeted the ENT consultants, policymakers, audiologists, and audiology students included three webinars conducted by professors from the USA and India. The healthcare professionals at several public and private hospitals were educated regarding hearing loss and early identification via small group discussions and posters. A workshop was held for 80 public health midwives on early detection

we held several activities to celebrate World Hearing Day 2023 with the theme “Ear and Hearing Health, Care for Everyone, Let’s Make It Happen”. On March 3rd 2023, Dementia Care Home, Faridabad, Haryana, India celebrated World Hearing Day by organizing an ENT health camp with ENT specialists and NCD doctors from Civil Hospital Faridabad, Haryana, India at its care home premises. Screening, Awareness, Rally

Raising of awareness of ear and hear care by poster presentation at the first floor of hospital and at the waiting area of OPD section for visitors in the hospital can see. Two otologists performed talk show of questioning and answer about common ear problems for one hour at the front of OPD . And we open for questions by direct asking and writing from the floor which was very interested from the people around that area . All of one hour performance were recorded and posted on the Rajavithi facebook .

We made a short presentation with three slides. They emphasized on the importance of early diagnosis and early intervention. This was shared as a public presentation in all social media sites. We could see this was widely shared. We also made a longer presentation on importance of hearing, early identification and early intervention of hearing loss. Volunteers from our Parents Teachers Association have been presenting this to schools, colleges, medical colleges, para medical staff and offices. This is being done in all the southern states of India.

On 1st Day, we oriented 9 Community Medicine Assistants on conducting opportunistic hearing loss screening using the free version of the hearWHO app and referral. The next day on WHD 2023, we oriented 31 Female Community Health Volunteers on hearing and speech developmental milestones of a child, common signs and symptoms of ear ailments and hearing loss, ongoing infant hearing screening at immunization centers, and DOs and DONTs for ear and hearing care. We used resource manuals developed by the Nepal government and WHD materials (translated into Nepali) for the two-day interactive sessions.

Hearing Screening Program for Children (11 month-6 years old). There was 71 children who attend this program. The program i.e cleaning serumen, hearing test with OAE, socialization to parents about hearing health, every three months to ensure the ear health, etc. This program is in collaboration with The Indonesian Society of Otorhinolaryngologist Head and Neck Surgeon (INDOS ORL HNS) & MedEl-Indonesia.

Dr. Arida Sumbayak has created a children’s song about Ear Health, which is song in Indonesian and English versions. by Playgroup children in North Toraja. INDONESIA

At the Apollo E.N.T. Hospital in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India, we ran a free campaign to increase hearing awareness on the occasion of World Hearing Day. Individuals of all ages attended this event and received free hearing tests (audiometry) and endoscopic ear examinations. Villagers were more enthusiastic about this initiative. This was advantageous for all of the patients.

2. Street play performed in OPD Foyer during busiest hours for public awareness.
3. Neonatal screening camp organised at Ummed Hospital, Jodhpur along with the Department of Paediatrics and Outreach Service Center of AIISH Mysuru. A large number of neonates were screened and counselled.

The Department of ORL-HNS at AIIMS Bibinagar organised various activities on World Hearing Day, March 3, 2023 including, a free hearing screening camp which was availed by over 60 people, a CME (Continuing Medical Education) on the theme of World Hearing Day, covering various topics related to the theme, including causes and prevention of hearing loss, early identification and intervention, and distribution of educational E-pamphlet about ear care in English and Telugu language via online generated QR code displayed in various locations in the hospital.

We conducted community outreach events to promote awareness regarding noise induced hearing loss and to
prevent it. We did activity in schools such as quiz, poster competition, skit in which prizes to scool children were also distributed. We also conducted health talk and commuity awareness sessions in one urban (Pratapnagar) and three rural primary health centres (Keru, Dhawa and Dhundhara) in Jodhpur district, Rajasthan, India. In the community we plan health talk.
Activities are planned in three rural areas and one urban area of Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

World hearing day 2023 day was observed today by Dept of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. As part of the activities, several community based and institutional activities were conducted. As a part of community based activity, screening of 51 primary school children from Changsari Lower Primary School was done on 1st March 2023. Many children were identified to have ear wax and some having chronic ear diseases with hearing impairment.
A Poster competition was also organised for MBBS students, with the theme ‘Ear and Hearing Care for all: Let’s make it a reality’.

World Hearing Day was a great success for the department of ENT, AIIMS Deoghar as in this year a series of activities were planned right from the beginning of the week i.e., Monday 27th Feb 2023 to Friday 3rd March 2023. The activities started with an awareness and screening camp at RK Mission school on 27th Feb 2023 and was continued with Hearing & screening camp at Ramudi village& Awareness talk to ASHA Workes 0n 28th Feb 2023, Screening camps at RKVVM School (1st March) & AIIMS Deoghar (2nd March ). CME was organized on 3rd March along with Poster, quiz and skit competitions.

The University of Toledo’s NSSLHA chapter held their event on campus from 11am-2pm EST on March 2nd, 2023. The goal of attendance was 46 people, but they surpassed their goal with a total of 55 attendees. Five stations of material and information were set up for the event, which included informational flyers, a “safe listening” app, free ear plugs, a hearing knowledge quiz, and free hearing screenings along with a donation prize wheel. Overall, the event was a huge success and garnered much support from the student body, the organization’s members, as well as faculty and staff.

The World Hearing Day Barbados 2023 was a 1-week event which culminated in an in-person, interactive live event on ear and hearing health and care. Awareness was raised through Media interviews, national News features and social media activism. World Hearing Day Barbados 2023 reached a total of 163,324 people. This reach has resulted in new partnerships formed for the continuation of the promotion of ear and hearing care from the requests for free monthly hearing tests and screenings open to the public. WHO WHD promotional materials and WHO Training Manual were disseminated to all guests.

Within the series of events and activities we had, we wanted to reach different audiences through different media such as radio, Facebook live, conferences and hearing screenings (41).
In the radio transmission tips were given on prevention of hearing loss, as well as recommendations for hearing care related to current activities.
A facebook live was published where the main causes of hearing loss or loss were addressed.
The conference “Hearing care in adults and Prevention of deafness in children” was given to staff of the INE (government agency) on hearing health. Attendance was 593 people.

200 first level health care workers were trained.
100 first-level medical care doctors were trained.
The national hearing health week campaign focused on the prevention and care of the ear and hearing health, through social networks reached 4.6 million people.
The World Hearing Day campaign focused on the prevention and care of the ear and hearing health, was through interviews on local and national television, publication in the local newspaper, through social networks, it reached 1 million people.
Different academic and promotional events for World Hearing Day were done.

On March 3, 2023, during the World Hearing Day, we carried out the proposed action jointly between the Secretary of Health of the Municipality of Córdoba and the Department of Otolaryngology of Sanatorium Allende, to give visibility hearing loss as a health problem. It was decided to hold an awareness talk on hearing prevention in older adults who live at the Hogar Padre La Monaca. 40 adults were exanimated, checking the hearing levels using questionnaires and otoacoustic emissions. The strong association between hearing loss and cognitive deterioration was the nucleus or the presentation.

We did a couple of videos with collegues of the Pediatric and Otorhinilaryngologist Associations.
We emphasize the promotion of ear and hearing care in primary care medical clinic,general population and specially among young mothers.
The importance of good hearing to develop speaking habilities,to aquire knowledge,communication tools and to perceive what is not visible to the eye, that is, the abstract,that is mandatory for analysis and synthesis.

Mag Saúde held, on March 3, 2023, an awareness campaign about hearing, promoting specific actions such as: performing audiometry; specific guidelines for employees with hearing loss detected; clarification of individual doubts; delivery of educational material TIPS FOR HEALTHY EARS (made available by WHO). Our external clients are also being contemplated, thus expanding the scope of the campaign and putting into practice its motto: “Supporting the day through the year”.

On Friday, March 3, 2023, at the ECR , it is informing the university community about ear and hearing care, informing about the WHO initiative, and informing the participants about the care, they should have and where to go if they show signs of alarm. This is day also actions in the practice sites by the students of speech therapy

We have contacted people through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and email to inform them about the importance of hearing care, including links to the WHO Website. Based on our experience in understanding the impact of noise on the human body, our company has provided info on lowering ambient decibel levels in public facilities, and guidance on WHO’s goals by handing out flyers and promotional materials from WHO.
We have sent information containing WHO brochures to more than 7,000 audiologists and industry officials who are major customers registered on our email list.

The Center for Hearing and Communication (CHC) celebrated World Hearing Day 2023 with a highly read e-blast to our community of clients, health care professionals, advocates and other supporters spotlighting the urgent need to expand quality hearing health care to all. The e-blast featured the W.H.O.’s training manual for primary care physicians along with original content developed by CHC. ACI Alliance hosted its monthly free Tuesday Talk webinar on CMV, with a focus on how primary care providers can address this issue and how it relates to hearing loss, including stories from families affected by CMV. Over 80 people attended the live webinar and almost 150 have viewed the recording as of mid-March 2023. ACI Alliance also distributed WHO resources on World Hearing day to our membership via email and social media, with a focus on the training manual for primary care providers (including a link to those resources for our membership).

Our event was held virtual on March 15, 2023 with 100 participants connected.
The speaker (Speech Language Pathologist) focused on Hearing loss and school age children stressing on barriers to inclusive education and strategies for preventing hearing loss, caring hearing health, and timing for diagnosis and intervention as well.
ALSEPNEO works in an ongoing survey to address hearing health care in Latin America. Our project aims to work together throughout the region for better hearing health care.

Our team at the University medical and dental center, Medical University – Varna aims to realize the regular prophylactic audio-vestibular check-ups idea and make it national, including patients’ examinations in hard-to-reach areas of our country. Individuals from those areas often have no opportunities and financial resources to travel to bigger cities, nor to pay for expensive examinations.
Free Prophylactic hearing examinations were done in the period 13.02-02.03.2023, including traveling to adjacent to Varna hard-to-reach regions. More than 200 patients were examined.

A hearing screening procedure targeting employees aged over 60 years has been performed at the Santi Giovanni e Paolo Hospital in Venice, Italy. The activities included a self-administered survey and tablet-based audiometric testing. A “FAIL” result was defined as the inability to detect one or more frequencies (0.5, 1, 2, and 4 kHz pure tones) at 30 dB HL in either ear or the presence of a risk factor for hearing loss. A total number of 64 subjects were tested. Ten failed the screening and were referred for audiological assessment.

The main theme of the day was to explore what the impact is of our surrounding soundscape on our hearing, communication, functioning, and well-being.

The 2-stage event had been taken place at the cultural center of the Municipality of Perama and is addressed to people over 60 years old.
The program started with a 20min presentation about the importance of hearing loss, prevention, and treatment of hearing problems.
Then, a pro bono medical examination and audiological test had been performed, followed by an ENT specialist consultation (Dr.Georgia Katsouli MD-PhD)
77 patients had been examined with hearing loss disorders.

We made a video highlighting the need for better ear and hearing care displayed from the 1st to the 3th of march. We’ve also distributed flyers with WHO’s key messages for the World HearingDay 2023. A social media post was made, advertising and inviting everyone interested. The participants on the hearing screening filled a brief medical history form, addressing hearing difficulties and it’s self-perception, followed by otoscopy and an audiogram, for which we used templates with the speech banana and everyday sounds, to help interpret the result in a different and more playful way.

I ran a free remote training session that was open to anyone.
The session was aimed at people who may care for someone with hearing loss & for businesses to be more deaf-aware within their workplace/services so those with hearing loss or impairment are more inclusive e & have a better experience.
It covered my own story of hearing loss, what deafness is, the Social Model of Disability, challenges people with hearing loss or impairments face, how to communicate better, other aids & looking after your hearing.

We invited leading specialists from Vilnius University, the Center for Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases at Vilnius University Hospital Santariškių Clinics, the Lithuanian Association of Families with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children, JSC Biomedica in Vilnius, the D.F. Chebotarev Institute of Gerontology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (online) to hold interactive lectures and a working discussion. We developed an online tool for testing whispering and speaking aloud in Lithuanian and English that included the WHO-recommended hearWHOPro application.

A group of De Montfort University (DMU) students visited Department of Acoustics at Adam Mickiewicz University (UAM) in Poznan between 26th Feb – 3rd March 2023. They worked with a group of UAM students on the joint project concerning how to increase awareness and access hearing care in both countries. The students prepared two posters one in English and one in Polish concerning the topic. The students presented posters simultaneously at DMU and UAM on 10th March to to both, DMU and UAM communities and engaged in the online discussion between themselves about the hearing care in both countries

I and my research colleagues have organized online event on examination of the ability to hear whispered and regular speech (by digital recording), followed by an assessment of the ability to listen in the Institute of Gerontology. Also, we have managed the monitoring of the level of hearing as one of the indicators of general human health in different regions of the Ukraine. The Ai Ia Foundation and the Society of Otolaryngologists and Head and Neck Surgeons of Georgia held a round table on the ear and hearing care for all in American Hospital Tbilisi. Chairmans of Organizations and representatives from the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Defence of Georgia discussed existing resources and ways to improve ear and hearing care. Invited experts Lars Clausen, Audiologist from Vivantes Klinikum in Friedrichshain, and Niko Lasurashvili, A senior Doctor from Dresden shared their experiences and opinions about cost-effective and best practices in hearing care too.

The Belgian NIHDI launched a campaign towards general practitioners to detect and discuss hearing loss with their patients.

There are a number of local languages in Pakistan and for WHD 2023, short and easy to understand hearing health messages in Urdu, Punjabi, Sindhi, Balochi, Pashto, Seraiki, Sheena, Pothohari and Kashmiri were recorded. BSAU students belonging to particular areas recorded these messages in their respective languages. Key objective of this activity is to reach out to people and break language barriers. Messages are mainly on prevention, promotion and awareness. These messages can be accessed at social media platforms of PIRS, including Youtube, facebook and instagram.

A seminar was organized at Pakistan Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences, Islamabad to celebrate World Hearing Day 2023, with the prime objective to launch primary EHC training manual and primary EHC trainer’s handbook. Seminar also aimed to promote and advocate for integration of PEHC into PHC. Speakers highlighted global and national status of EHC, primary prevention of NIHL, screening and early detection of hearing loss. Deployment of ear and hearing workforce (EHC technicians and audiologists) at PHC centres and and promotion of EHC through lady health workers was strongly recommended.

Like every year, world hearing day is celebrated on march 3rd. this year also it is celebrated with zeal and diligent devotion in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery Dow Medical College Dow University of Health Sciences and Dr Ruth K M Pfau Civil hospital Karachi.
All the health professionals who are concerned with ear and hearing care participated with full enthusiasm I-e juniors and senior doctors of ENT Dept. Undergraduate medical students, post graduate trainees, faculty members, guest ENT surgeons, audiologists and speech therapists were all the active participant

We held the event entitled “To hear for life, listen with care- let us make our listening safe”. It was a joint venture of Office of Medical Services & Office of Sustainability for the Music club. It included an in-person awareness session on Hearing Loss and Safe Listening Practices and tips to communicate with people having hearing impairment to promote diversity and inclusion; followed by an active group discussion where the students raised concerns on hearing issues. The ‘hearWHO’&smartphone apps to measure sound intensity were demonstrated. The event reached thousands via social media.

The theme for World Hearing Day 2023 was ‘Ear and Hearing care for all! Let’s make it a reality!’ Many medical professionals in several health facilities within Kampala lack confidence to look into the ear, let alone know what they are seeing. We sought to pilot a 2-day course providing the ear and hearing basics for primary health providers starting with interns and first year ENT residents. We used the WHO Primary ear and hearing care training manual for health workers and general practitioners for basic otoscopy and hearing testing in the clinic setting. We raised awareness, informed as well as educated young people and caregivers on the importance of ear and hearing health care services, being a group of young budding health care providers this opportunity enabled us to serve our community and be part of this global movement. We carried out a five day community wide awareness raising Campaign sensitization within Mongu, To highlight importance of accessing ear and hearing care as an important component of universal health coverage as well as linking community members to ear and hearing health care service providers through a referral system

Main event – A symposium was held (on March 3) with stakeholders, to create awareness on the need to integrate Ear and Hearing Care into Primary Health Care. Heads of Institutions responsible for Ear and Hearing care in Ghana were present, to deliberate on ways of improving access to Ear and Hearing Care.

In the days leading to the main event, members of STAAG made appearances at Polyclinics, Nursing Training Colleges, Television as well as Radio stations, to spread the word on the importance of Ear and Hearing Care, as well as where to access proper Hearing/Ear care.

Activities started with sensitization on a national TV channel (Canal2) over a period 3 days, impacting over 1000 people nation-wide.
This was followed by 3-days screening activities at Laquintinie Hospital in Douala.
Each screening day was started by sensitization on the importance of hearing care and routine screening to the parents as well to the health personnel. New-born screening was done using Otoacoustic emissions & audiometry was done for older children. 62 children were screened (52% females), 7 (11%) failed the tests and were referred for further assessment, with a positive impact.

On 2nd & 3rd March, 2023, We were able to educate students on ear Care and causes of hearing levels difficulty amongst age group: 12 – 20 years of 320 students and 20 teachers directly with about 1500 indirectly through communities in ENUGU South LGA, Nigeria.

We held a one day event on Friday 3rd march 2023 at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital in the Southwestern part of Uganda organized by OSU. The day began with an opening graced by a representative from the Ministry of Health, the Hospital Director, OSU President, and organizations in hearing and ear care. The event also included participant education about hearing and ear health, an ear health out patient clinic for participants, and finally hearing screening for all participants. A total of 63 participants were reviewed and had hearing screening done, with appropriate management.

The World Hearing Day celebration at Nigerbell Speech And Hearing Centers commenced with educating the participants on safe listening and hearing care using the materials provided by WHO.

We offered free hearing screening for adults and children.

This activity brought together 100 participants drown from primary health care provider, teachers/ heads of primary and secondary schools and stakeholders in the disability sectors. The theme for the training was awareness of hearing loss and relevant communications skills to enhance effective service delivery. Hearing impaired experts facilitated on the following topics: earl detection of ear loss, health care treatment for patient with ear loss, basic communication skills (Sign Language) and the prevention of ear loss. The training end with a commitment from the participants.

All cochlear implant patients in Tanzania were invited to a session in a large hall, where we held informative talks by the departments of speech pathology, audiology, and ENT, followed by a speech by senior administration. Media was present, and following the talks, a discussion was held with patients and parents as we discussed their journeys, their progress, their challenges, and their advice to other prospective patients and to the general public. Three stations were set up for attendees to cycle through – audiology, speech, and ENT. A cake was cut to celebrate WHD.

We carried out a community based sensitization event where we raised awareness amongst adolescents, children and their parents about hearing loss, as well as ear and hearing care including where they can access these services. We also delivered health talks to three local schools within our community with adolescent friendly spaces on safe listening. In attendance were key stakeholders to the event like school headteacher’s, clinic staff and but not limited to the adolescent health coordinators in Northern province. All of whom will help promote and sustain ear and hearing health.

We Start our event on 3rd of March 2023 with live English radio question and answer session at 7am local Nigeria Time, the event Talk on the global burden of hearing loss, causes of hearing loss, method of prevention and treatment, the role of policy markers in integrating ear and hearing care into primary health. The program program lasted for one hour.
On 4th of March we went to Mani Town which is 38 kilometers from Katsina town. We held a health talk, hearing screening. Treatment of patient with ear diseases. On Fifth of March 2023 we held another radio session in local Hausa language

We invited and engaged representatives from respective health facilities and district health directors to a three day workshop aimed at development of an implementation campaign and strategy to deliver ear and hearing care services to communities around central province of Zambia, the provision of primary health care will be the primary objective so as to advocate for and hopefully develop an initiative that serves all the communities and the people that live in them. There after will had representatives pledge to the cause of providing primary health care to their communities.

On the third of March 2023, Impact East Africa in collaboration with AEPC Kyeni kya Gai Primary school, Ndathani Primary School, and Tei wa Yesu Health Center, marked this year’s World Hearing Day Celebrations by conducting the following activities as we addressed the theme on “Ear Care and Hearing for all”: a) Advocacy using placards and posters and also holding a procession, b) Creating awareness in communities by conducting free ear care education, screening & treatment of ear infections & c) Referral for patients who required special attention to Impact East Africa’s free Ear Surgical camp

Our team had a radio show on Thursday evening educatin people about the rise of hearing loss and how the World Hearing Day was established to help mitigate the rate at which hearing loss is raising especially among young people. The radio show was streamed live on Facebook. On Friday (March 3) we visited some lecture halls and some small shops where noisy machines such as drilling machine and the rotary hammer are used. People who work in these noisy shops were advised to wear a pair of ear plugs and also visit a nearby Audio Clinic for a hearing assessment. Flyers were shared on social media.

We began the campaign with education on our various social media platforms using flyers and posters. However, in the first week of March, we undertook a health education program in a farming community in the North Tongu District of Volta region were farmers received education on ear and hearing health.
Finally, we crowned the week with a free ear and hearing screening program at Gli Megakope, a farming community at Aveyime, Ghana and a Twitter Space dubbed: Let’s talk ear and hearing health on our twitter timeline.

FKND Foundation held an event dubbed “Free School and Community Ear Screening” Focused on ear and hearing assessment, awareness raising and education, a total of 1,185 people were screened. Comprised of 419 males and 766 females. Further breakdown indicates 986 students, 95 teachers and 104 community members in four government basic schools in Akropong and Atwima Koforidua. Ghanaian Times newspaper, Hello FM, Peace FM and United Television (UTV) covered the event. Out of the total number of people screened, 1,050 (88.61%) had hearing within the normal range and 135 (11.40%) had hearing loss.

A 2-day activity was carried out on the 3rd and 4th of March, 2023. Day 1: An health talk on Ear and Hearing Care for All: Lets make it a reality was given followed by Free Ear examination and Hearing assessment in our facility for those that have ear complaints or have predisposing factors for hearing loss or came in as a result of the radio jingles. Day 2: An out of station health talk, examination and screening was carried out at a community Church where over 400 were in attendance.

I conducted OAE screening, hearing screening and wax management on 20 grade R and grade 1 learners at Ngcwala Full Service School in Qokolweni Village in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Day 1- Opening Ceremony and keynote lecture on “Ear and hearing care for all! Let’s make it a reality”at the UUTH conference Hall. The hospital community was enlightened on the importance of good ear and hearing health care.
Day 2- Local Radio awareness talk show/phone-in programme held at Atlantic 104.5 FM Uyo. Free ear and hearing care outreach conducted at General hospital Ikot Ekpene.(28km from Uyo)
Day 3- Free ear and hearing care outreach conducted at UUTH Uyo community. A total of 163 individuals were screened for common ear diseases. 32 attendees had aural syringing done.

World Hearing Day 2023 in Laikipia County, was marked by events at the county’s two main hospitals.
There was screening of 100 clients for ear diseases at the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital , led by the resident ENT surgeon, Dr. Wangari Gitau.
At the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital, there was a series of health talks on ear and hearing care to patients at the clinic waiting bays (30 at a time). There was a continuous medical education to the staff (60 participants)at the hospital on the same.
Two county heads were engaged on training of other health workers using the manual.

Awareness was first raised with all colleagues in the office. An ENT expert shared with us the best practices in ear and hearing care. One of our partner (Village Bondeko) implements a school program specifically for deaf children, and has medical staff & teachers who are on the front line with the children, we presented the launched trainers manual, and copies were given to each participant.

The Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) Health Services, joined the international community to commemorate the 2023 World Hearing Day with activities that ran from March 2-March 3, 2023. Activities were geared towards promoting access to Ear and Hearing Care including; Health talks and screening done at the level of 54 health facilities, 4 radio outings, A workshop with Mayors on their role promoting of Ear and Hearing Care and the launch of a sign language dictionary to promote the learning of sign language as a way of breaking barriers to health care for people with hearing impairments.

As Bududa district association for the hard of hearing, we celebrated WHD day by
raising awareness and advocating for integration of ear and hearing care in primary
health care system especially extension of ear screening, treatment and cleaning services in
health centers. We encouraged government, NGOs working with ministry of health to
increase the number of audiology experts at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) so that they can
offer ear and hearing care services to all persons who encounter ear related illness as well as
rehabilitation.

Activities we organized included a Training session on CSOM for GIHUNDWE Hospital staff including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and paramedics. At NKOMBO Health center we prepared a screening, treatment outreach for ear conditions, and a training session for Community workers. We discussed with patients who were waiting at Consultation Hall and they were excited to ask questions about the causes and how to prevent CSOM. Moreover there was also a Radio talk Show on Country FM in KAMEMBE. On Social media there was an everyday post on ear care and awareness of the effects of Loud noise.

AAML and MUST-ENT combined efforts to conduct an outreach to OKOA Refuge centre which is. centre to over 200 children and 100 adults. We carried out ear examinations, cleaning and hearing screening for children using the ShoeBox iPad play audiometer. The team also provided CME to the only organisation nurse on management of common ear infections, ear cleaning and introduced them to hearing screening using the WHO hearing screening app. We reviewed the hearing aids of 2 aided children and lastly left behind basic kits for ear care cleaning and WHD brochures.

For the month of March 2023, we engaged in a worldwide sound level measurement competition or mapathon where ambassadors worldwide take sound level measurements of various venues whether it would be a restaurant, bar, coffee shop, retail store, church, gym, arena, etc. The submissions contribute to a worldwide publicly accessible database that helps public health and noise pollution advocates see evidence-based data on how loud the world is and whether it is getting quieter or louder over time.

The day started with Ear hospital staff and patients carrying WHO ear health banners through local streets. A team went to a local school and led an assembly for 250 students, giving lively instruction about ear health, especially avoiding loud noise from amplifiers at local festivals. They screened 130 of the younger children. Several had ear problems, one had a large dead cockroach filling one ear canal. We took a class for 60 older students, giving basic teaching about ear health, anatomy and function. 10 severely hearing impaired children sang about their hearing aids and cut a cake.

The aim of the advocacy efforts and activities initiated for the World Hearing Day celebration is to Effect a Collective Response to Calls to Action in an inclusive and all-embracing platform on the occasion of WHD 2023 by way of engaging multi-stakeholders; sending WHO promotional materials and communication that can help raise the level of awareness among target participants in the educational and health care system of the country; bring encouragement to other stakeholders to join the global campaign; including Media practitioners and designers in social dialogues capacitating collaboration.

On March 3, 2023, the Department of Otolaryngology of Fenyang People’s Hospital launched a free clinic on hearing protection, distributing free information to everyone, reporting popular science lectures, and launching publicity activities with the Disabled Persons’Federation in the city square.

World Hearing Day -2023

We reached a major population via in-house campaign, social Media platforms and reaching public on individual basis.

Amplifon has promoted an awareness campaign, offering free hearing tests in its specialized centers.
As part of its activities to raise awareness among young people, Amplifon has launched a global TikTok channel to explain the importance of hearing prevention at every age, and for the first time on World Hearing Day in Madrid, it has organized the first face-to-face workshop with 30 student, as part of the school project Oyeah-Listen Responsibly. Finally on March 2, it offered 200 free hearing tests via a new proprietary iPad-based technology (Otopad) at the Bocconi University Campus in Milan.
